 What is the definition of success?  Some people might measure it in financial terms, perhaps by looking at how long one can profitably run his or her own business. For others, the things that matter most might be more personal, such as finding true love, maintaining a long, healthy relationship, and raising a family.

By any measure, Irvin “Kip” Kipper may be the most successful man in Los Angeles.  Kip is 93 years old (or young, depending on your perspective) and still goes to work every day in his own store, Kip’s Toyland at the L.A. Farmers Market. What’s more, after 71 years of marriage, his wife Gert comes to work with him every day.  The business and the romance are both going strong.

Who could have imagined that an economic crisis in Greece would end up causing a tsunami all over Europe?
While the waters calmed a little bit on May 10th, with the announcement of a rescue package, we predicted that such euphoria would be short lived and there was more bad news to come. We certainly were not disappointed. While Europe was asleep at the wheel, extended weekend holidays, Sarkozy (French president), Merkel (German Chancellor) and Zapatero (Spain’s Prime Minister) fought a rough battle in their weekly meeting of Ministers behind closed doors.
That is putting it mildly because besides the harsh words that were spoken, fists were literally slamming on the board room table and temperaments ran high. I Read more…

The Crater Lake National Park Trust has scheduled it first “annual” Winemaking Reception June 5, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Annie Creek Restaurant.

The nonprofit Trust will benefit from the net proceeds of the event. RoxyAnn Winery, Troon Vineyards and Spangler Vineyards have confirmed as participants in the reception. Chefs of Crater Lake Lodge will present a selection of hors d’oeuvres. Cost of the reception is $50.

Crater Lake is Oregon’s only National Park. A limited number of rooms are also available for overnight guests.
