It is important to know how much money you owe on your credit card at all times. If you let this number escape you there is a very good chance that it will get out of control before you know it. Fortunately, staying on top of your credit card balance is not as difficult as it may sound. After all, you receive a statement every month, right?

The one question you have to ask yourself the next time you receive your credit card statement is this: can I afford to payoff my balance? This is a very important question, and one that will have a long term effect on where you stand financially.

Simply put, if you can afford to payoff your credit card balance you should most definitely think about doing so. Why would you want to continue to pay interest on your credit card balance if you don’t have to? This is just a waste of money.

Of course, the size of your balance has a lot to say about whether or not you can pay it off with one check. Some people find that they have enough money to payoff their credit card balance and forget about it for the time being. Others do not have this luxury, so they must stick with smaller payments over the long haul.

If you find that you can payoff your credit card balance it is important to think about doing so. There are many people in position to do just this. Are you one of them?
