A recent study by TransUnion reported that consumers are continuing their recent trend of making credit card payments before mortgage payments. In fact, this is now the third straight year that this unprecedented consumer payment behavior revealed itself.

This unexpected payment pattern exhibited by consumers over the past three years has many experts confounded and has a direct connection to the recent economic downturn, Sean Reardon, the author of the TransUnion study, said.

With the merger of Continental and United Airlines late last year, cardholders of the Continental OnePass MasterCard and United Mileage Plus programs are now a part of the largest frequent flyer program in the world with over 90 million members. The newly merged company is working to align benefits and provide a single world-class frequent flyer program by 2012 when all accounts will be integrated.
